Medicare has different parts that serve unique functions:
- Medicare Part A: Once eligible, you will be automatically enrolled in inpatient hospital, home health care, skilled nursing facility care, and hospice care.
- Medicare Part B: Optional, offers coverage for outpatient hospital, physician, laboratory, limited preventative care, and other services not covered by Medicare Part A (like physical and occupational therapy and home health care).
- Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage): Offers the same services as Medicare Part A and B but with additional preventative care and optional prescription drug coverage. Medicare Part C is offered by private insurers such as Anthem
- Medicare Part D is prescription drug coverage and is offered by private insurers such as Anthem.

Medicare Supplemental plans are additional insurance plans sold by companies such as Anthem.
